Things that go half-assed when Mom is recuperating.

Recommended Posts

Last nite I asked DH to take the ac unit out of the kitchen window cuz it was chilly in the house.

After a bit of grumbling he enlisted our darling son to assist him.

There was a small amount of manly noises, 'it slipping!' and growling from both of them while they accomplished the task. Therein lies the problem. My version of accomplishing the task vs. their version.

Now this ac unit is a snowbird and lives in the back shed for the winter. I wrongfully assumed that accomplishing the task would mean that it would find its way home with their assistance.

Silly me.[/img] [/img]

Huh... sounds like my wife has it lucky. I do all of the bill paying (online or in person), I do the grocery shopping, the outside chores, I clean the bathroom, living room, hallway, office, & living room, vacuuming and dusting. She does the laundry, cooking, and dishes not because I won't but because I don't do them "right". I prefer towels folded and she rolls them, etc...

When my wife was out of commission I had no problem cooking for the kids, they just had to eat what I made. I never asked them what sounded good. And there was none of that, "If you don't like it, find something you want." crap. I say "This is what we are having, don't like it? Starve."

Needless to say they like mom better in the kitchen!

Actually, I have to be honest. I hate dishes. With a passion. I would rather eat off paper plates and plastic flatware then let the dog clean the pans. Wife says no though. She hates cleaning the toilet, so it's a fair trade.

Wow, that's impressive, any chance you have a bother with similar capabilities?

My hubby is like you are. He helps a lot around the house. He's also a very "get it done now" type of guy, too, so anything handy I need done gets done quickly and efficiently.

Everytime I've been out of commission, he's taken awesome care of me and the kids. I'm so very lucky.

Maybe that's why we've been married for almost 28 years ;)

Babbs - I wish I was handy, but alas I am not. I am exactly the opposite. I actually have the fear of screwing something up so badly that I would rather not do it. But I am also a tight-ass with money so I don't want to pay to have it done. So it just sits there unfinished. I hate that about myself!

@@lilmelisa - funny you mention that. No, he and I were nothing alike. He was handy and could fix crap, but was terrible with picking up after himself and paying bills. And he drank himself to death. Don't worry, I am not the weak emotional type that gets weepy talking about it so you did not cause me pain.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
