It depends on what your doctor requires you to do. For me , its been about 8 months (I purposefully took my time). I just finished everything... expecting surgical date for some time next month.

It also depends on what your insurance requires to and what that doctor orders. I got my approval in 5 months would have been sooner if the doctor had not took a whole month vacation

About four months for me. The quicker you can get all the testing done, the sooner you can get on schedule... At least that's the way it worked at my bariatric center.

My bariatric center works similarly to Sai's, it sounds. It also depends on your insurance. Some insurance companies require a 6 month supervised diet, some don't.

My insurance company doesn't require the supervised diet, so basically, I can submit to insurance as soon as I get everything done. At the end, I will probably take 3-4 months for me, depending on if insurance drags their heels or speeds things up!

Best of luck to you!! :)

4 months with the insurance required 3 month diet and other testing.

I went to my consult last June. My insurance required a lot of doctor's approvals and a 6month diet with monthly Doctor checks. I'm working on having everything done by May. Then I'm hoping to have summertime to heal.

I had my physical on February 3 where my PCP referred me for surgery. I had the first of my six required diet visits on March 3 and the last on August 10. I had my PCP clear me for surgery on August 14. It was approved by insurance on August 29, and I was sleeved on September 28.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
