Hello everyone, I had the RNY Gastric Bypass Surgery on June 20, 2016. My weight at my first surgery consultation was 288 lbs. My weight after my pre surgery diet was 265 lbs. Today, October 22, 2016, I am 213 lbs. So far, so good! I'm happy! I can't exercise because I have vascular necrosis of the right hip. One of the purposes of getting the surgery is to be approved for hip replacement surgery. My orthopedic surgeon wanted me to loose at least 100 lbs in order to not damage the prosthetic hip and also to alleviate any risk of infection. Since my bypass surgery, it's still hard for me to digest any kind of meat, Pasta, rice or bread. But, I think this will eventually reverse it's self. I hope so, because I really loved meat! It's so nice to have your "skinny" clothes "bag" and "sag" on you!! If you want a more detailed account of my weight loss journey, please go to my YouTube channel at Valerie Chowdhury.

Well, glad to hear you are doing so well. In terms of Protein there are other ways to get it besides meat. Try Beans, cottage cheese, greek yogurt,

Protein shakes.

When you do try meats, make sure they are really moist and chew well. Take small bites. For me fish and chicken were the two meat items that worked the easiest but I had to cook them just to done and not over cook.

Lastly its good that you cannot eat rice, Pasta or bread. They will actually stall you. You should be staying away from those items at least until you hit goal and then introduce them back slowly and minimally.

For your carbs you should be focuse on veggies and a small amount of fruit.< /p>

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
