Hit the wall- 40 more lbs to go

Recommended Posts

I have been at this weight for about 2 months. My problem is liquid calories. I drink too much alcohol. I don't need a fill. I am going on vacation in 2 weeks and I go for a slight unfill next week. Once I return, I immediately am going to go back in to get me to 3.0 ccs again. How do you recommit yourself when you are close to goal? My goal is to only have a couple drinks a week after vacation. What are your thoughts?

Gosh Julie,

I know the feeling. It takes a lot of soul searching. What has helped me lately is focusing in on what got me into this mess in the first place and dealing with my "issues". I dont want to call them "bad habits" because we are not "bad".

One of my problems is recreational eating in front of the TV. I still have to have my popcorn with my Sat. night movie - and not the sawdust variety either..the good stuff. Other than that, I had to cut that right out.

Once I get that under control, it's onto plan 2, whch I think will be taking better care of "my" needs and what my body/soul needs instead of food. That will be a biggy.

Good luck Julie. We are all in this together and here to help you.

Julie,

I just want to add one more thing....

40 lbs. to go...........that is fantastic!!!! Just think about it.

Think about the total amount you needed to lose in the beginning..and how overwhelming that amount seemed.

I have about 50 more lbs. to lose...wow..50....heck of a lot bettern than 100..I can tell you that.:D

Hi Julie ~

I totally understand what you mean about 'liquid calories' . . . I don't drink alcohol, but I had gotten into a habit (bad habit) of drinking sweet tea and lemonade mixed pretty much all day long and knew I had to stop. When I finally did, I dropped 5 pounds in a WEEK! Boy was that an eye opener! :rolleyes

I knew I wasn't eating enough not to be losing so it had to be the liquid calories . . . I knew I didn't need a fill . . . . Now I am concentrating on drinking TONS of Water and hoping to lose these last 20 pounds faster than I lost the first 40.

Good luck to you . . . If you are getting a slight un-fill because of your vacation I don't necessicarily think that is a bad idea. My family went on a cruise the end of July and I was so tight I could barely eat at all. I wasn't miserable, but would have enjoyed being able to sample some of that delicious LOOKING food . . . :D

Lynn

Yes, I am getting a slight unfill for vacation. Last time my doctor took me down to 2.5 from 3.0 I could eat a sandwich. I am happy with that. I don't want to gorge. I just am sick of only eat 1 oz at a time. I'll probably gain a few lbs but I go back in right when I return for a fill so I should be okay.

I have 29 pounds to go and once I cut out coffee, shakes, alcoholic beverages, tea, etc, I dropped 6 pounds in 2 weeks. What useless empty calories! Stop feeding your face, eat solid Protein only when hungry, drink Water to hydrate, and keep moving. Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
