Anyone else have trouble with excessive vomiting?

Recommended Posts

:help: I was banded last November and have only lost about 30 lbs. I vomit nearly every day and most of those days it is several times. :cry I had a Barium Swallow done yesterday which showed everything is flowing as it should, no constrictures. Band is in place, no slippage. I have a return appointment with my surgeon tomorrow to follow up on the swallow study. Is anyone else having these problems? I am so frustrated and really wishing I didn't have this banding done.:angry

Vomiting is really for a person with a band. What does your doctor say is causing this?

check to see if you have H-Pylori.....it is a common bacteria that reeks havoc for anyone with a band!!!! You need to have an endoscope to find out--if so a course of antibiotics...well worth the effort!! Usually one course of treatment is needed for your entire lifetime!!!! Good luck!

Wonder if you are too tight? How much are you filled.

I only have 1.8 cc in the band. I saw the dietician today as well as the surgeon. We have decided to return to Stage 3 of the diet for 2 to 4 weeks and see where we stand. If I am doing okay and lose 2 to 4 lbs then in 4 weeks he will give me another fill. It has now been about 10 weeks since I last had any Fluid added to the band

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
