Optifast liquid diet?

Recommended Posts

Well day 3 of my Optifast out of my 4 weeks. I am struggling today I took a nibble of my 3 yr Olds pizza like a tiny nibble. Is this going to affect me?? I feel so guilty so so guilty. It's not going to happen again!! Please no judgement I just want to know I'm not a complete mess up.

This is the hardest thing I've ever done. Feed my kids and not eat with them. My will power is being tested.

I don't think 1 nibble is going to kill you - if it was really just a nibble. Get back on your pre op horse, and just remember that 3 days post op a pizza nibble could cause a leak, which could kill you.

@@khuuxo This may be one of the hardest things I've done. It sucks but if you get through this just think of how much better off you'll be post-op. You'll already have good control over food rather than it controlling you. If there's anything other than shakes you can have - prepare and have them readily available. I can have broth so I've made my own (tastes much better than store bought). If you can have sf Jello - make sure to have some in the frig. While my SO is eating his supper - I'll have broth. He feels horrible but it's okay - this is only temporary - I can handle it! You can too! 4 weeks seems like an eternity but it'll go by fast and get you started off in the right direction. A nibble of pizza is not going to harm you pre-op. Anymore than a nibble and you may trigger even more carb cravings. Stay strong!!!

Thank you for your understanding. Kudos to you for eating with your hubby even though you can not have what he's having. I can have sf Jello and broth as well :) what a good idea I will save my cup for supper time.

I am determined. But I question so much of how determined when that instinct and habit of picking while I cook or when my son is done his plate lol. This is sooooo different and really breaking habits. I am addicted to food and I never realized that more so than now by being on this diet.

When is your surgery?

Hi!

I'm doing to assume you are in Ontario if you're having to do Optifast. I'm in Peterborough and had my surgery oct 3. I had 3 weeks of optifast and alao had to prepare dinner for my hubby and 2 year old. It sucked. The whole time. Being at work was better then at home. It took me a long time to figure out the spacing to help curb the cheating at dinner. I would have my 'dinner' shake at 3pm so I wasn't so hungry preparing dinner and then have my 'snack' shake after everyone was done or just as they were finishing dinner. Honestly I still have almost a whole case left, that's how much I sucked at it. I do wished I could have done better. Telling myself it is a prescription and the goal is to reduce my liver helped. Just do your best. They never even asked me how the diet went when I went in for surgery. Just saying. Good luck. Oh and as for now, so much easier. I can cook and I don't even care if I eat anything. Just not hungry.

Belleville, nice!! Yes, it is for the better. Surgery and recovery will go so much smoother by following the diet.

I feel great! Everyday since surgery gets noticeably better. I will let you know, the first 36-48 hours were hard, but the staff and nurses I had were amazing. Take your pain meds BEFORE you need them. When I wasn't sure if I was in pain or nauseous, I just asked for both! Walk as much as you can. You'll do great! I can tell by how well you're doing now :-)

@@khuuxo My surgery is Tuesday (10/18). It can't come soon enough!!! I'm allowed 5 shakes a day but don't usually drink more than 3 (sometimes only 2). It would make me feel alot better if the weight was melting off - but it is still up and down (fluctuating) daily. I'm actually surprised at how well I've done on the liquid diet - I never thought I'd be able to do it. It is not easy by any means but I haven't even turned into a miserable b*tch (yet!!). lol I don't have children but a few times I was tempted to sneak a piece of chicken I give to my dogs. :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
