Hello, I'm new here

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I'm JudyH from Columbus, OH. I was banded June 5 at Ohio State University and my doctor was Dean Mikami. I had my first fill in August and so far I've lost 17 lbs.

I retired from the State of Ohio 4 years ago after 30 "wonderful, funfilled" years. Right before I was scheduled to retire I went into Respiratory Failure due to obesity and ended up getting trached. I still have the trach. So besides getting healthier, when I lose enough weight, I will be able to get the trach removed. This will happen according to my Pulmonary Doctor.

I'm in my early 50's and happily single.

Talk to you all soon.

Hi Judy!

I had LapBand surgery 5-29-07 and am also 54 year old. I have lost 22 lbs. Is your Dr happy with your loss? There seem to be a lot of people with bigger weight losses than us in the same amount of time. I have a Dr appt today and expect him to do a fill. Hopefully that will speed up my loss! Welcome. I love this web sight. I just found it today.

Res,

I found this wedsite a couple weeks ago. It has been a great help for me. I haven't been back to my surgeon but I'm happy with my weight loss. As long as I continue to lose, I'm happy. Good luck with your fill.

JudyH

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
