Hard beginning...back basically back to normal!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved August 1st of this year. A month into it, I got a sinus infection...and it was all downhill from there. I had a post nasal drip. I could feel the mucus running down my throat all the time. I became nauseous basically 24/7. I couldn't eat or drink. I tried... I just threw up, even Water. Then I just started dry heaving. One day I would feel ok, the next horrible. I didn't go to my doctor for that reason. I'm the type of person that likes to fix things their selves. I don't like nothing people with my problems. I just thought I could handle it myself... Get myself back on track.

No such luck. After 3 weeks of basically not eating or hardly drinking....mind you, I wasn't losing any weight because my body was on store mode. I went to the ER, then was admitted. My doctor said I shouldn't even be here. I should be dead. The first 2 days were all tests to see what was wrong with me. Tests=no eating. All the tests came back good. So my doctor had a pick put into mepost-298997-14761039682747_thumb.jpg post-298997-1476103973323_thumb.jpg

In half a day, I started feeling better. And was able to start eating a day later. I was in the hospital for a total of 6 days. I am a wife and a mother of 2 beautiful 9 year olds. School had just started. And my hubby had to so it all. And let's just say...it was pretty new to him lol.

Moral of the story, when u start not to feel good, get ahold of your doctor. It is their job. Last week I had a check up and I am down 41.5 lbs! The 3 weeks that I was storing fat definitely slowed down my weight loss. But I thank God every day for everything he has done! post-298997-14761043877679_thumb.jpg

@@slusher1006 This is so important!!! There's far too many complications from surgery that could occur - you should never try to diagnose yourself OR assume that someone on a forum had a similar issue and they were fine so you must be as well. Glad you're feeling better!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
