Having a hard time quitting smoking

Recommended Posts

Ooh amber I am facing the same test if willpower as you. Just reading this thread makes me want a cigarette. I quit Aug 10. My surgeon said he would cancel me if I showed nicotine in my system. I had such anxiety over it at my pre surgery appt., The nurse told me I looked like hell. I told her I used nicotine replacement so a UA or breathalyzer would show nicotine. She took a blood sample instead. It looks for nicotine chemical break down that attaches to the hemoglobin in the red blood cell.

Good for you for saving that money!

Unfortunately my husband has no desire to quit and won't even try.

I am headed to Tijuana for my surgery and was advised not to smoke anymore but won't be tested for it.. I am not feeling more confident about quitting. . Thankfully.. my surgery is only 2 weeks away so I wish I had quit sooner but better now than never I guess :)

Is there vapes without nicotine?

Cece

Can buy ejuice with zero nicotine (just has pg or vg with flavoring). For me, it took 11 days vaping zero nicotine to pass. Everybody is different though, depends how much you vape (or smoke), how much Water you drink... etc. I actually bought nicotine testing strips from Amazon months before to get an estimate.

Thank you for your detailed response. I also started smoking essential oils there's a thing called Monq and it's really amazing.

Vaping has been my go to..knowing how nicotine can really have a negative effect on a sleeve after surgery..I slowly went down to 0 nicotine but still vaping, and my surgeon is fine with it. I find it funny that it's more of a mental habit than the nicotine itself.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
