Hey everyone! I'm new here and my name is Nyalah I'm 22 years old / 5"5/ 283lbs. I've been heavy for most of my life and after trying nearly everything I've decided to go through with the vsg. All I have left to do before I go to get my surgery date is seeing a psychologist. I'm very excited, I've got amazing support from my family. Although my brother is a little scared of me going through with this. Even though I've got such great support at home, I thought it would be a good idea to meet other people going through the same things as me. I can't wait to share my journey with everyone and to hear other people's stories.

Welcome aboard! And congrats on your soon to be surgery. Support is a keystone so that's great. It's common for those who love you to have fears. Your brother sounds like a good guy who cares very deeply for his sister.

Thank you very much! I try to educate my brother about the vsg, I'm just not sure how to displace his fear.

Good for you!!!!⭐! Acknowledge it now, fix it now. Ive been obese my entire life and just had the surgery at 57 years old. If I was as wise as you I would have had a much more fullfilled life and not have the orthopedic damage that I now own. It is wonderful that you have the guts and the knowledge to address the issue head on and live well. All the best to you.

Welcome KitsuneMiko. We are from all over the world here. I'm from

Sydney Australia. I'm having a gastric sleeve done on the 21st October. I'm 43 and weigh 139kg (sorry don't know pounds). BMI 51. Due to start a 3 week sentence of Optifast shakes on Friday. Last supper scheduled for tomorrow night. I'm really excited to be having my surgery. I've had spinal surgery and I'm a nurse. My brother was packing death about me having surgery and my mum has slowly come to terms with it now. They know that I'm determined to have it done as it is time to have a life. Let us know how you go. I've found this ap invaluable to know that other people have and are going through the same thing. You can get advice from people who really understand your concerns and can give you advice about how to get through any issues.

Tonight pretty good, earlier I had my son help me up out of my sick little recliner, it declines to recline anymore. Got to the edge of the seat and nearly slid on to the floor. I know its hard to get up from but I'm a junkie for this chair. First thing.I bought when I was widowed, late lamented would have disliked a black fake leather from Walmart. But I worked there and got 10% off, that he would have approved of. Man was mingey, stingey is tight with money, he would have lectured me on taking better of money. Ah well life goes on. And I'm the one still here in my BMI 45 glory, he probably wouldn't think I deserved surgery, I was just a fatso and selfindulgent. He was 3 inches taller and 30 lbs heavier and Moi was the Fatso? Ha ha, John. .Rosey Posey

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
