Sleeved 9/19 - calories question?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

A week and a day out and I'm doing pretty well. I'm hitting my Protein and fluids goals. I have been doing very long walks, but no real cardio yet. I started using the Baritastic app to track all of my intake and activity and my calorie intake is so low. For you newer sleevers, what does an average day look like for you, calorie-wise? My energy levels are pretty low and I'm assuming that has something to do with it.

Hope everyone else is hanging in there!

26 days post op, averaging between 600-800. First week was lower.

Congratz on your surgery!

I stayed under 650 calories for the first four weeks.

The lack of energy after surgery has more to do with your body needing to recover from surgery IMO. A person eating 2500 calories a day after a gall bladder removal or heart bypass will also likely be exhausted and weak for several weeks after surgery, too. That's the body's natural response to major trauma.

i just had appointment with my dietition today...she said at 4 weeks out it is average to do 400-600 calories but by week 8, i should be at 700. i am at 4 weeks out and getting between 400-600 calories. i have been tired alot too, besides flintstone chewable Vitamin, and chewable Calcium, she also recommended at least Vitamin D, 2000 ius...at 4 weeks out i can do gummies or the soft gel Vitamin d...this will help with tiredness.

That's good to see. I'm 2 weeks out and get about 250.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
