Increased Burping??

Recommended Posts

I just got my band on Thursday and have noticed that I am burbing much more than ever before. Fortunately, they have all been NPB's, or non-productive burps, and that's the way I want to keep them. My question is, Is this increased burping normal, and if so, how long after surgery does it continue, or is this a "forever" thing? Is it a precursor to you're getting full, or you've already reached the limit.....stop? My unrealistic goal is to never PB or slime. Is that possible? Any help from you experienced "bandsters" would be helpful. Thanks!!

I was banded in June. I still don't have good restriction, but I too have noticed burping, something I didn't do before banding. The burbing seems to be a message to me that I'm full. I stop eating when I start burping. So far, I've neither thrown up or slimed.

I certainly burp more.....but it seems to be "controllable" so I don't do it out in public!

As for NEVER PB'ing.......well in theory I do believe that is possible because you only PB if you eat too fast or do not chew well or swallow something that definitely can't be chewed enough (i.e., calamari).....

BUT at least for me it can kinda catch you off guard.....like after a fill....you're tighter....or if you're stressed it's tighter and what usually doesn't give you problems can!

But all in all I have never PB'ed in a restaurant....I'm ultra-careful with friends and out and about! So I guess you could say if I was ultra-careful ALL the time I would never PB!

Good luck.......It is still ALL worth it for me!

WELCOME the burping! You should be doing a fair amount of farting too. You are getting rid of the air they pumped into you for the procedure. The more you do both, the less likely you will suffer those nasty gas pains (mainly in the shoulder and neck area). It should subside in about two weeks. BURPING IS A GOOD THING!

I burp a lot more that preband. They are small burps all during the day. I also seem to burp when I am filling up. I have not pb'd yet, however I did slim once. It was really bad and happened after eating some peanuts which I chewed really well, but I think I ate too many. Thank god for promethazine.

I think the way the band is positioned it must impact the amount of air taken into the stomach, or the amount of air the stomach can hold. I do a lot of burping...especially when I eat.

I had my surgery done on the sixth and I've been burping up a storm but I'd rather the gas go out instead of stay in me and hurt even more. The doctor told me it was normal so hopefully soon it'll start to calm down.

At 2 months post-op, I am still burping and farting up a storm. I hope this doesn't last, socially awkward and all. Gas-x is still my good friend.:o

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
