The GI test the day after your sleeves?

Recommended Posts

It's not terrible, but I failed. The doc said there was just a trickle going through and he couldn't be sure everything was good. My surgeon, though, said thatsince I was downing my liquids and shakes that I was good to go. Happily, he was right!

I didn't have one. My surgeon doesn't do them because he's never had a leak and figures it isn't worth putting people through that unless there is a reason to. That made me nervous at first but after hearing about it, I'm glad. I'm sure it'll be fine though. Just another small step in the process. [emoji3]

Just had it on Tuesday. It was an awful, bitter drink and you have to drink about an ounce of it. Horrible! They gave me some Water to swish in my mouth after they took the pictures. Just really really bad. But I was able to start drinking after, so it was worth it!

The pre-op was terrible. They gave me something that made my stomach larger and omg ridiculous cramps and discomfort. They gave me some fizzy drink, ew. And one chalky one. That was terrible. You swallowed and it was still all around your mouth. Post op, was only 2 I think.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
