I had my consultation today!

Ok so I have about a month to get everything together before my next appointment with my surgeon. I don't have to do a 6 months diet so that's great but I do have to get myself mentally ready for what's to come. Nutrition is my main concern and I did explain that to my NUT. I want to make sure I have the tools to make my new tool work for me. I'm excite but nervous. I'm also happy I found this app. I've spent so much time reading a lot of ppl messages. I've been inspired and encouraged by everyone's journey.

I have done tons of research on all of the surgeries and this website has helped me prepare for the surgery. My date is October 25th and so glad to finally have a date.

I started by changing things a little at a time since my 1st appointment. Like going from whole milk,to 2% and now at 1% ,eating 100 % whole wheat bread (although I eat almost no bread now ),I went from country crock margarine to I can't believe it's not Butter. Caffeinated coffee, to half calf, now Decaf.

I have lost 22 lbs since June 8th, so I am doing ok. I have also lost 16 plus inches since July 30th and actually moving alot more. Just trying to get more steps in my day was avg of 300 steps a day now avg.3000 a day.

Do what works for you and you will be fine.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
