jaadan79 got a reaction from Zebby67 in Protein shakes...That’s what I’m gonna do because Celebrate has a chicken based protein but it’s not jiving with me. I’m going to buy an unflavored protein to add to my broth. -
jaadan79 got a reaction from SimoneMonet in How did your family and friends react?I feel it’s my journey, my life. We’ve tried to do things to lose weight and studies prove long term most are not able to keep it off for good. I commend those that have been able to do it. I also commend those of us taking this route because the surgery alone doesn’t make you successful. It’s still a long term battle because we still have the same brains we started with and to be honest most ppl overeat regardless of their size. We are doing what’s best for us and you don’t have to like it but we’re not asking you to either. Be happy with your decision. December 27th for me!!! I’ve gone through the steps 3 times and I’ve finally decided I’ve had enough and need some assistance. -

jaadan79 reacted to puddin in I live in squalorGirl, I do sympathize. While I'm not married, I have a sister who used to be incredibly messy. I like the house clean and she could care less, but she was also dealing with some depression problems. She has since dealt with the depression and voila! She's taken it upon herself to start cleaning up after herself! But I had to really back down and not nag her about it. I just let it get kinda messy until she couldn't stand it and decided to do something about it. But she never would have before dealing with the depression. So while I can't give any great advice here, i can say that perhaps if you can help your hubby deal with the depression, maybe that will do something about the cleaning motivation.
Hey, just thought of something. Another thing that got her cleaning was to invite someone over and then tell my sister about it before-hand. She's got too much pride to have a messy house when people come over, so she'd get up and start cleaning. Would this work with your husband? Maybe invite people over once a week LOL!

jaadan79 reacted to batty_vsg in December 2018 Sleevers!Hello everyone!
I was approved a few days ago (after only waiting a week) and received my surgery date for December 12, 2018! I chose this date out of the few offered to me because I am currently in college and I will be able to finish up my classes prior to the surgery (which was a huge worry of mine.) It's about two weeks before my birthday too!
Anyone else scheduled out in December?

jaadan79 reacted to BaileyBariatrics in Reducing RefluxThe weight lost after bariatric surgery often decreases symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux, also called heartburn. Why wait until after surgery for relief? The healthy eating habits we ask you to work on before surgery can reduce your reflux now.
Chew your food to applesauce consistency. Eat smaller meals. Stop chewing gum and drinking out of straws to prevent air from getting into your stomach. Stop using tobacco. Avoid high fat foods. Fat takes longer to move through the digestive system so food stays in your stomach longer. High-fat foods include using lots of cooking oil when cooking, whole milk instead of skim or 1 percent milk, regular fat cheese, deep fried foods and the fatty meats used in fast food hamburgers.
Other strategies include avoiding foods that can irritate the esophagus. Irritants can include hot peppers, spicy foods, carbonated beverages and acidic foods like citrus or tomato juice. Avoid peppermint and spearmint, because these will relax the opening between the stomach and the esophagus. This allows stomach contents to be pushed up into the esophagus.Sit or stand for several hours after the last meal before bedtime to allow food to pass into the small intestine can also help. Invest the time to have healthier eating habits. The payoff is feeling better right now!
