I'm wondering if my Dr. made my stomach as small as it's supposed to be!! I can eat a half a can of cream Soup before I feel full which is what STARTED me wondering if he made the new stomach really tiny or if it's kinda big and I JUST ate a whole banana. No dumping and no sense of feeling full. What the hell!? Most people say that they eat four bites of banana and feel stuffed or that the sugar in the banana will cause them to dump! But me, I can eat a whole one with no problems!

The Fluid goes down faster, so I know I could easily eat more Soup when I had just had Surgery. As far as the banana, it depends on how fast you eat, slower I eat, more I can eat. Measure out your meals, stick with it. Snacks in between your meals help curve your hunger. I was hungry all the time, but I followed the diet and as I could eat the more solid foods, I felt fuller more easily.

I've wondered the same thing, not because of food but mostly because I have NO issues drinking over the 64 oz of Water. I started drinking that on day 4 post op. I usually get to about 84 now.

I too had same issue and grateful for it. I just means we are not as sensitive, and need to measure and eat the right amounts to satisfy, and not eat to the full feeling. Eating to the full feeling can be very painful and not good for the pouch long term if done too often. I had a revision and to this day have never felt "Full" and can eat anything, unlike many others.

The WLS is a tool only and we cannot depend on the pouch to control us, just use it the best we can.

Good luck in your journey of seeing what works best for you.

Please don't push your new pouch... you are pretty new out of surgery, and your nerves haven't healed enough to tell your brain that your pouch is full... bananas are full of sugar. Sure, you may not have dumped this time, and you many never, but it's not Protein forward. I understand that some doctors allow things like bananas, but I doubt he suggested a whole one.

Try things like cottage cheese, eggface's ricotta bake (google it), Oikos triple zero yogurt, hummus, mashed Beans.< /p>

Get your brain onboard with your new lifestyle changes, and it'll make it easier for you in the long run.

Please be careful. You could easily cause significant complications some life threatening. Just because you feel like you can eat alot doesn't mean you should. You'll cause a leak or obstruction. Don't test it. I'm sure surgery was done properly. It'll work if you work with it. Follow your plan - including portion sizes - it's dangerous not to.

Nothing wrong with that. Fluid goes right through. It's great you're able to get alot in.

I know some programs allow Soups and other stuff but my surgeon only allows Protein, and after 4 weeks I could add veggies-but I'm focused on just getting my Protein in and I just had my 3 month follow up. I am still not hungry so how far post surgery are you?

12 lbs is great! 6lbs a week... multiply that by 12 wks!!! See...it doesn't happen overnight, we have to work for it. Like I've heard a million times...this is a tool. Not a miracle. Follow the guidelines and you'll get to where you want to be.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
