Coffee... It's My One True Love

Recommended Posts

Counter culture...Toby's estate....blue bottle...stumptown. I stick to the best stuff, drink it black and savor it at a great cafe.

I used Stumptown this morning! Have you ever tried Poverty Bay? So good....

No never heard of it!

I was served Decaf coffee in the hospital! Stayed on decaf for a few weeks then went back to my fav: Peets French Roast (black). Haven't had the slightest problem.

I came to the conclusion that there was no 1 right answer so I waited 2 weeks after surgery to ride the java train and 1.5 months for the booze (I don't drink often). Not saying I would advise the same, but I am only 2 months out and all is good.

Don't sleep on the single origin Beans from La Colombo. Todd Carmichael (Dangerous Grounds on Discovery) is a goofball, but the man roasts amazing beans.

Seriously if you can find a bag of Geisha varietal that will change your life. I promise.

I am a huge coffee fiend, myself! My doctor told me that I couldn't have any coffee for a month after surgery because of the acidity, and I did follow his instructions. After that month passed, though...right back on the coffee!

I usually have either a skinny latte or Americano with a shot of sugar free Syrup when I go to Costa or Starbucks. Most of the time before I leave for work or when I'm at home, I use my Nespresso machine and pour the shot of coffee with a bit of sugar free syrup and a splash of unsweetened roasted almond milk over ice. Investing in some sugar-free syrups off of Amazon and getting a Nespresso machine has saved my hubby and I a TON of money.

I love my nespresso machines! I have one in office and one home. It is definitely saved me from Starbucks expenses. I also used the Decaf when off coffee and being able to have small coffee is ideal since take so long to drink sometimes!

I broke out my Burundi Beans and my Aeropress this morning. I cannot tell you how magical that was... The Dilaudid probably enhanced it, but twonsips finally broke the "my bowels are taking a long siesta" thing and now, finally, I feel human.

I knew my coffee would make all the difference in my recovery. ;)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
