3 Wks / Pain Middle Right 3rd

Recommended Posts

Hi -

I've had some intermittent pain in the middle of my torso - a third of the way in - right underneath my ribs. Never horrible but enough for me to notice.

I'm 3 wks removed from my surgery. I've been 85 - 90% compliant with my meal plan. I do not overeat and chew everything to a pulp. Worst mess up was a cookie.

Anyone out there experience similar issues (and please don't get self-righteous with me :D).

Thanks!

I had terrible pain on left side to the point that I had to be admitted for pain management. The pain was up in the left side stabbing pain. It got better after day 8 or so. I was told I might have had a hematoma or it could have just been muscular in nature . Toradol made a world of difference

Fortunately I go to my surgeon tomorrow morning.

I've tried to ignore it and thus far it's tolerable. But there are times that the area acts up.

All that being said, that little nagging sensation hasn't gone away since last weekend.

I imagine I'll get another hydrocodone script unless things start to worsen.

I'll let y'all know!

Well, things went the way some of you predicted. Classic gallbladder symptoms. Strong pain killers - ultrasound next week.

You're the 3rd person recently that has gallstones within a month post-op. It seems to me that a gallbladder ultrasound would be automatic pre-op so the gallbladder could be removed at the time of surgery. It doesn't seem possible that a stone could develop that quickly unless there were issues before surgery. It sucks that you may have to have another operation so soon and while you are still healing. Good luck.

I spoke to my primary care dr and she said that alot of patients have the same problem after surgery with the gallbladder and or kidney stones.

My program has put me on Actigal... I start those freaking horse pills next week. They're huge capsules that I have to take with warm water... can't break them open like my omeprazole.

Good point. Doc says I will have minimal downtime. I sure hope so! With that being said, today I was virtually pain free. What gives? I'm glad - but confused.

My Dr checked my gallery bladder before surgery and said it was fine. He said if there were probs with it he would take it out at the same time as the bypass. But now I have gall sludge 1 year post op.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
