Please HELP with some advice!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on 8/2//016 and my starting weight was 266lbs. Today 5 weeks and 1 day later I have only lost 11lbs. Please help me to get this weight loss going! I get 80 to 90 grams of Protein so I know that's not my problem. I drink 3 16.9oz Water bottles a day. And I consume between 500 to 800 calories a day! Should I go back to an all liquid diet to restart? What advice can you give me? Very depressed because I'm not losing! And I don't think it's a stall cause I don't think they last 5 weeks! Please help! Thank you!

@@Mindy Gullion That may not be enough fluids - try increasing your non-caloric liquids (decaf tea, Powerade zero, Vitamin Water zero, crystal light, infused Water, broth, etc.). That may do the trick to move things along. Remember - 11 pounds is still a loss and as long as you're going in the right direction you're doing well. There's no race to the finish line.

Keep us posted as to how you do!

Have you been for a follow up with doctor? Mine discussed what I was consuming, how much, how often, etc. I was told that our bodies are still figuring out what is going on. It wasn't just our stomach that changes.

Also, your body doesn't know preop loss from post op loss. It just knows loss. Whatever you lost preop, if any will impact you overall.

You *are* losing, you just aren't losing as fast as you want to. It sounds to me like you are doing a good job with your eating and recovery, I think you should give yourself a break and let go of expectations of exactly how fast you will lose. Keep up the good work with your intake, be kind to yourself, and keep going -- the weight will come off and you will get to goal.

Yes I lost 13lbs pre-op! I have been to my dr twice because I'm having a hard time! I go back again next week. I will add more fluids. I do exercise at least 30 minutes a day! Thanks for the advice everyone!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
