13 DPO no appetite and not thirsty

Recommended Posts

Is this normal? or is it because I'm still in a lot of pain.

The pain is my lower left quadrant and no pain meds will touch it, no tylenol, muscle relaxers, no amount of walking, ice therapy (I haven't tried heat yet) is helping.

No appetite

I'm still working on my Protein shake from Breakfast. I have no appetite and I'm not thristy.

I haven't poop because of my lack of appetite. (I'll drink some hot lemon Water before bed) I'm regular, I think my body is hating me right now.

I'm taking my Vitamins and lovenox and all my other meds, even though my blood sugars aren't decreasing, so I had to add one of my insulins back to get it back under control.

I had an appetite and I was drinking my fluids on Sunday, the lost of appetite happened yesterday evening.

Is this normal?

most people lose their appetite/hunger for a few months after surgery. A small minority lose theirs forever (I hoped and prayed I'd be one of those, but no....). Mine came back at six months out. For others, it's more like a year. But for most people, it does come back at some point. Take advantage of not having it - it's *really* easy to lose weight when you're never hungry!!

@@Jade99 Regardless of no appetite or thirst - you need to try and get in the recommended Protein and fluids. You should be sipping all day. You can become dehydrated very quickly.

Call your surgeon about the pain and see what they recommend.

I'll definitely do that. Thanks

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
