Help/Nedd advice on Problem???

Recommended Posts

Yesterday for lunch I ate a meatball a little larger than a golf ball. For supper last night I ate a few baked french fries. After I ate supper I got the hick ups. This morning when I woke up I hick uped and some of my supper came up. Is this normal for food to be in my pouch for that long? I feel like I am full and have no desire to eat (other than head hunger). When I took my morning medicine I had to drink a little. I seemed to reflux back up.

I have been drinking tea this morning and can feel a gurgle a little while after I drink, as it goes down. I know that the Fluid is going down slowly. I feel like I have indigestion (and have since I woke up). Is this normal? I have been banded since November 2006. Could my band be stopped up? Also, I have 3.4 cc in 4 cc band. I know I have good restriction. However, if I eat solid protien I can't eat all that much. If I eat a snack (like a 100 calorie pack) I can eat the entire bag. If I eat a protien bar for Breakfast I can eat the entire bar. If I eat food that is not solid protien I can eat more than a cup. Is this all normal? I am

Probably you should make sure you don't eat too close to when you go to bed. It doesn't sound like you are eating very much, are you eating enough?

If it lasts very long or you are worried about it, call your doc and see what he says.

That has happened to me before. I think you were stuck, but without the pain, because nothing was actually wedged in your stoma.

Our pouches are supposed to empty every 20 minutes or so, if we aren't overfilled. That said, there is a LOT of fluctuation. I know I've had something in there for more than a day on more than one occasion.

If I were you, I'd do liquids and mushies for a couple of days to let things settle down, and if it doesn't happen again, I wouldn't worry about it. If it happens consistently, I'd get the slightest unfill, just because it's not healthy in the long run for your band to have your pouch not empty.

I wouldn't worry though. I think you're fine (with the normal caveats of call your Dr. if you think there's a problem)!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
