My insurance, which is Molina, doesn't offer any classes. I wish they did. I would love this!

Does anyone, who may have attended these classes, have any info they would like to share on some of the things they may have learned in class?

I would really appreciate it.

I've learned a lot on this forum and it's great, but I thought someone may have a new perspective. Thanks

My classes were conducted by my surgeon's office/NUT and not insurance. Have you met with your surgeon? They may have classes or one-on-one counseling.

If you google bariatric center of excellence patient manual you should be able to find some helpful information.

My insurance doesn't offer or require anything, but the hospital where I hope to have my surgery has a support group. I went on Thursday night and although it was a small group of folks I found it informative. It is conducted by a nurse who works with bariatric surgery patients so being able to ask her questions was awesome. I would like to find another group or two where I could meet patients IRL and ask questions, still looking for that.

Same boat here. I'm relying heavily on online resources tho. There is so much out there!

It's way too much to give on here but I could email the information to you. I had to go through 7 monthly classes. From learning to read labels to how to cope emotionally post op. DM me your email and I'll work on it for you

If you read these two books thoroughly, you'll get most of the info you would get in the classes. Don't let the titles sway you, they are solid resources.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
