What are the best multi vitamins post op?

Recommended Posts

My surgeon gave me a sample pack of Vitamins for post sleeve surgery. Said I would need four a day chewable, but these things are nickel size! Any suggestions on Multi Vitamins post op? These are made by fusion.< /p>

That is kind of a loaded question. Sleaver's don't have the same malabsorption issues that others surgeries produce. I do a chew-able Centrum in the morning and an off brand soft gel in the late afternoon. Blood work has been fine, but I do add magnesium (umm, it helps you poop regularly) and a couple of extra things I think are important to my personal health goals.

Thanks @ OKCPirate. I also have taken liquid magnesium drops before and they work well. Not sure how my body will react yet, surgery is 9/1. I'm gonna try the Centrum.

I also take Centrum (chewable) - or the CVS equivalent

I've been taking a womens mega Vitamin soft chew from GNC. Some Calcium soft chews from walgreens, an Omega 3 packet (coromega) also at gnc, an Iron pill, and a separate b6, B12, and Biotin sublingual combo from wonder labs. I won't get updated blood work until my 6 month appointment. Will see then if anything needs to be adjusted. I started with a chewable multi from opurity, but after surgery just couldnt stomach chewing them... so I went with soft chews.

I am a bypass patient and 9+ month post op, but my surgeon's office recommends Flintstone's Complete chewable for all their patients, bypass or sleeve. The generic equivalent is fine, if it has all the same levels of the Vitamins and minerals. I still use Flintstones because I think they taste better than the store brand ones I have tried.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
