Fat feet. WARNING: gross photo included.

@@Jane1979 Those are NOT gross feet. My post-winter 'dragon feet' are gross :) I've only lost 43 lbs so far and my feet are already thinner...I didn't gain a lot in my feet even when I was really heavy, but I can tell that my calves and feet are thinner from the way some of my shoes fit. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

My big goal for this fall is to fit these calves into a pair of Hunter rain boots. I want them soooo badly!

8weeks post op and I definitely saw a change in my legs and feet within 2 weeks and even more today. I like to say I welcomed back my ankles at week 2. Definitely feel shoes fitting more comfortably.

Hi all!

I am set for very first appointment Sep 9.

I was wondering if anyone experienced losing weight in your feet.

I'm not talking about the length of your foot. I mean the width and the tops. Mines are so fat on top that I can not even wear sneakers let alone real shoes. I've been stuck in crappy flip flops for a few years now. Family seems to think its Water. But who retains Water for 3 years!?

I will attach a pic so you can see what I mean.

WARNING. THE ATTACHED PHOTO MAY CAUSE GASPS, fainting and vomiting.

Ps. I know, I need a pedicure. But arthritis pain has been very bad the past few weeks. attachicon.gifImageUploadedByBariatricPal1471881902.030645.jpg

It may seem impossible, but it looks like you are definitely retaining water. How is the health of your heart right now? My feet weren't very big, but after losing only 23 pounds, I can definitely tell that they have lost volume on the top, and even in my ankles. I now have to tighten my sandals around the ankle because my ankles and feet are so much thinner than before.

I'm 60 lbs down and I've lost a fair amount off the tops of my feet. Some of it is Fluid retention (yes, for years!) some of it is fat. If your feet don't start slimming down as you do, talk to your doc as there could be circulation or other edema issues.

My exact thoughts. I was thinking about congestive heart failure.

Definitely no issues with my heart. I was surprised too ... So was the cardiologist. Being 350lbs one would expect something wrong there. But, Thank God, no issues, not even a slight murmur with my heart.

Thank God, indeed! I'm so glad you have no problems! My poor aunt has swollen feet, legs, and ankles, and she has CHF. I'm so worried about her. I'm bringing her to a support group next month so she can get the sleeve.

Keep her elevated about 30 degrees until swelling disappears. Otherwise the Fluid can build up further around her heart making breathing and her heart beating almost impossible. That over works the heart. It is a muscle and like any other muscle, when you work it, it grows (enlarged heart). That only compounds the problem.

Thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately, I don't live with her, plus, she's very stubborn and I'm worried that if I tell her to do that, she will get upset. Maybe next month, when I take her to the support group, I can ease her into that idea without upsetting her. She might not even get upset. I just assume the worst sometimes and I'd like to avoid that, haha. Actually, now that I think about it, I'll be seeing her on Labor Day. If I pull her to the side and we discuss my surgery, maybe she will tell me her worries and then I can give her that advice. Thanks again! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
