Post Op w/surgery 8/17.

Recommended Posts

Hi all! This is my 5th day post op and have overall been doing better than I anticipated. I have been having a lot of "gurgling " like feeling in what I assume is my stomach and I have had some pain from what feels more like where they repaired a hiatal hernia. Stayed 2 nights in hospital because my new stomach was slow to drain from the esophagus . I think what I am feeling is mostly spasms....but did any of the rest of you have the nausea and discomfort more from the hiatal hernia then the stomach?

In a way, yes. I felt like it was kinda hard to breathe when I first woke up from surgery. But I think it was a gas bubble that was trapped. Also, it hurts my esophagus more when I eat than it does my stomach.

I had my surgery on 8/15 and had a hiatal hernia repair as well. I had the exact same gurgly feeling every time I drank something. I didn't have nausea, but I did have the discomfort, almost like I could feel the liquid going down my esophagus and into my stomach, and it would be a few seconds of discomfort, like a cramp or spasm, and then it would subside. But it was with every swallow of liquid. I was worried something was wrong, but now, a week post surgery, it has mostly subsided. Every now and then I get the discomfort, but for the most part it's gone away. My guess it is was just because my stomach was healing.

I had the same feeling as if my stomach was talking to me every time I ate or drunk something but after week 3 the feeling was gone. I had a hernia repair.

I had my surgery 8/18 and had a hernia repair, too that I didn't know about. I feel sloshy and tho I'm not having trouble getting liquids down, the rumbling and gurgling of liquids in my belly feels odd.

I had my surgery 8/8 and also had a large hiatal hernia repaired. I would say the gurgling is probably from the gasses used in surgery to enlarge your stomach for the operation.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
