Have a pre-op testing Sept.27th if all goes well I have a tentative date of Oct. 4th. Extremely nervous and excited also.

You won't have to do a pre-op diet?

After the first initial meeting with my surgeon in July, I started substituting one meal a day with the Protein Drink and began drinking 32-64 oz. of Water. By the middle of August I increased it to two Protein Drinks and 64 oz. of water As of Sept .20th, I have been on the complete pre-op diet.

I have surgery Oct 4 - started Optifast all liquid diet for 14 days - on day 2 liquid and IM STARVING - anyone else?

A daily meal plan for the patient’s pre-op liquid diet may look like this:

preop-sample-meal-plan-table.jpgtry to follow something like this. I was told i could sneak in a 4 oz piece of chicken boiled in broth, and have unlimited sugar free ice pops ( only 15 calories each, so 20 is only 300 calories..lol)

I snuck an egg yesterday - try for the feedback - I'm starving the food smells so good lol

a boiled egg is fine. you can also have a non fat low/no sugar greek yogurt..I think the hardest part is not chewing anything all day, so I bought sugar free gum.In the long run, it'll be worth the sacrifice now. Stay strong!

I'm so hungry! Day 5

Keep drinking fluids every hour. Eat sugar free Jello or have sugar free ice pops. Hang in there, your sacrifice before surgery helps pave the way for your future. I believe in you.YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

@@dccarite I'm October 6th too and my diet is the same as yours. I'm three days in and it sucks lol. Where are you getting your surgery? I'm in DC and getting it at Washington hospital center

I'm in Pennsylvania. I'm getting mine done at Wilkes Barre general. I'm 5 days today. I cannot wait to get this surgery and get the process started.

I'm new to using this site. Is there a way to "friend" people so we can follow each others progress?

Hello, I'm new here also and I'm not even sure if I'm doing this right. Lol That would be awesome if it was that type of forum too friend people.

Good luck to you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
