Coverage ends December 31st

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I have finally made up my mind to do this and found out my insurance will no longer cover lap bands after December 31st. I have attended the seminar, my pcp is in the process of finishing my letters of neccessity and clearance. I have a appointment to meet the surgeon and physchologist in the next month. My question is how long is the wait time and is is possible to have the surgery before December 31st? Any info will be greatly appreciated. :cry

Do you have all the information the insurance will need for approval? Ie: 5 plus years of weights, a list of all your co medical issues, all your meds, letter from your primary doctor to the lapband doctor. Did the doctor say how it took them to get others approved with this insurance. We have UHC and was approved in less than 30 days and my wife is having it done on the 12 of Sept and Iam on the 19th of Sept. Have you talked to the insurance company about what want? I would get there number and fax and be ready to resend everything if needed? If you have any questions e-mail me here or at vcw61@excite.com and I can forward you my letter if you wish? The biggest problem I had was getting all the information from the other doctors. My wife main doctor was a pain and we went to the obgyn and got all that was need. Good Luck

Chris

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
