So I have one week of vacation left at work and was thinking of going to Cuba or jamaica. Either this September or October But I know it's hurricain season so there is some chance that one might trouble my trip. Or I was thinking about maybe in December when the hurricain season down and it will be also my 40th BDay. Except I'm scare most of my summer clothes won't fit anymore by then cause of my sleeve

(summer clothes hard to come by in canada around that date besides bikini.) So I am so annoyed I don't now what to do, all I know is that I need to have my toes in the sand before this year ends or I'm gonna go crazy LOL

If you are worried about not having any summer clothes, I personally wouldn't worry too much. I tend to always overpack on beach trips and only wind up wearing the basics. All you really need is a bathing suit, sandals, and a a cover-up or sundress for dinner. Depending on what size you are now/will possibly be, you might even be able to buy what you need at the beach. I have been wearing loose dresses all summer that fit over 200 pounds ago. Now they make good bathing suit cover ups.

I agree with the sundress suggestions above! I've dropped two pants sizes this summer but I'm still fitting into the cute sundresses I got at goodwill in the spring. They can really last a long time. Some of the bigger ones I'm still wearing are made cuter with a belt around my waist. Think of us whenever you do get to some sunny beach somewhere. ^_^

I would pick up just a couple of summer items now because they are on sale and wait for hurricane season to pass. Go in December or even November.....I have hurricane completely ruin 2 vacations in my life and now I refuse to book another trip out that way during the season.

Once you have a few items a size or two smaller you are covered for clothes and can buy stuff out there as well if you need to.

Oh, and don't forget my ticket. I am in need of a vacation in the worst way!

I'm not sure what type of Cuba vacation you were planning, but just in case you think Cuba is wide open for U.S. tourists, and you could be sunny yourself on a Varadero Beach, it is not.

Travel to Cuba for tourist activities remains prohibited by statute. There are, however, 12 categories of authorized travel. The Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued general licenses in all 12 categories of authorized travel, subject to appropriate conditions. Family visits; official business of the U.S. government, foreign governments, and certain intergovernmental organizations; journalistic activity; professional research and professional meetings; educational activities; religious activities; public performances, clinics, workshops, athletic and other competitions, and exhibitions; support for the Cuban people; humanitarian projects; activities of private foundations or research or educational institutes; exportation, importation, or transmission of information or informational materials; and certain authorized export transactions.

So if you fall under one of those 12, you may be considered, but also know, it would be a lot cheaper to fly to Jamaica if that is your other option.

She is Canadian, they have always been able to go to Cuba. They didn't participate in out dated US foreign policy.

So good job on writing a book about US laws when she clearly stated she was Canadian and it is hard to find summer clothes in Canada before her trip.

Nothing like clinging to the cold war.

Geez, I saw CA as her location. Silly me, assumed California. I didn't read past the Cuba thing. Yes, I know Canadians can go to Cuba. I worked at the US Interest Section in Havana for a few years back in the 80s.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
