Did you check out the site I linked for you? It really does have a lot of great information on it. It covers from pre-op on. You can PM me if you have any questions.

I am sorry that you don't have any support on this journey. I was very lucky to have support and i think it really helped. I even made friends with a few people from my surgeon's office that had surgery around the same time as I did and we still get together every month. It was nice to have people that knew what I was going through to talk to. That might be an option for you. This site can also be very good. I did a lot of reading in the early days and it was motivating.

You can do this and there are plenty of people here willing to offer positive support. :-)

There's a lot of support to be found on these forums. It really depends on what you consider support though. For me, I consider encouraging others to stick to their doctor recommended plans support. Some people view support as tell me what I'm doing will be fine. Personally, I appreciate the people that will hold me accountable and offer healthy suggestions. Doing and eating the way I want is what caused me to need surgery in the first place.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
