I only have one that is still hurting. I can yawn now without any pain which is nice. My doctor said it could be up to two weeks for them to stop hurting so I wouldn't worry about it.

I totally thought I was losing it when I had those feelings! I don't really think it's hunger I think it's your stomach just healing. I'm 6 weeks out and my stomach makes the craziest sounds when I'm eating or just whenever. But those weird feelings go away I promise! And after 2 weeks I felt great. Hardly any soreness. Good luck!

I remember the feeling well and it's really not hunger.....It's your stomach healing.....it can't really even properly communicate with your brain right now other than to say "WTH just happened?"

At this point you should just be eating on a schedule based on what your plan says. Measure your food (I imagine it's full liquids right now) and eat only the amount your plan calls for. The reason for that is your stomach really can't tell you when it's full right now....so small amounts very slowly.....on a schedule.

I'm 3 months post surgery and my stomach still grumbles sometimes after I eat but I think it's just working on digesting....don't really know, but it's not painful just annoying sometimes if I'm in a quite place and everyone around me hears it..haha .....just know that just because your stomach growls it doesn't mean you're hungry......

Congrats on your surgery....stick to your eating plan and know that each day is better.

Take Care,

Kathy

I believe this is what they refer to as colic. I think our stomachs are screaming at us. This is like what babies get. No wonder they scream and pull their legs up every few minutes. I had my surgery on 8/10 and its the one thing I have felt from the moment I woke. I was unable to have any narcotics after surgery due to a severe allergic reaction previously to morphine. It was a blessing. The gas was minimal and my bowels were up n working in no time. My understanding is that the pain meds don't help for the colic either. I get it when I start doing too much or when I consume anything. Little sips help

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
