I am a week post op today. I know if I drink crystal light it makes my mouth super dry. I do not know why. I just know it happens. I am good with plain ole water!

It's been happening to me at night.. Really keeping me up to. I definitely drink enough Water but for some reason I wake up several times a night with driest mouth ever. Almost as if I can't bend my jaw because it's so dry. Not sure what's causing it though?

Sorry I'm no help lol

I feel for you as I have always had dry mouth even before surgery. I use to drink 3 to 4 liters of Water and would have lots of trips to the bathroom. I also used the ACT dry mouth lozenges when I wasn't close to a bathroom.

It was really bad for me the 24 hours before surgery. I wasn't allow to have anything to drink or suck on from midnight before surgery until 1 pm when they took me for surgery. It was horrible. I was trying to create more saliva as my mouth was so dry my throat was hurting. After surgery for the first 5 months I didn't have dry mouth yet I drank the required 2 liters of Water which was a lot less than before surgery. Now 6 months post op my excessive dry mouth and thirst has returned. I was never diabetic nor am I now. I have no idea why I have had this problem for most of my adult life. I have started using ACT lozenges again and have just learned to deal with it.

I have had a dry mouth since surgery. Mine isn't related to hydration as I am well over two years post op and stay well hydrated. It's strange. It's worse at night.

Things I do to help mine is use biotene moisturizing mouth wash and or breath spray. I brush my teeth frequently. Also, keep a bottle of Water by my bed and if the dry mouth wakes me up I can sip on that.'

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
