Whose waiting for their approval - Date?

Recommended Posts

I got my approval within 4 days of everything being submitted. Everything went pretty quickly, if I wasn't waiting for a lab order from my PCP I would've had surgery a month or more ago. Started the process April 26th and my surgery is the 24th!!

You can also call your insurance company, I did! I found out before my surgeon office.

So with the few hurdles that I had to get over, my preop has been moved to September 13. I will receive my date then! The surgeon's office said I am still looking at before the end of September!

I'm still waiting for my approval. It took the coordinator 2 weeks to send it in, the insurance had it for just about 3 weeks when the denied it because my pcp forgot to release me for surgery. Now it's been another week for reconsideration. I hope I hear some good news soon.

That sucks! :( with everything this has been a 9 month process when it should of been a 6 month one. When you get that date time flies! Best of luck!! :D

That sounds very similar to my case. But my PCP forgot to send in my clearance to my surgeon. Two weeks went by before I called to check on paperwork. That's when I found out about them not having my clearance. I wish I called sooner! It took insurance 2 days to get back once they had my paperwork.

Good luck! I hope you get a close date so you don't have to wait much longer.

I'm also waiting for approval/date. I"m not even sure my coordinator has sent it in yet. I thought they had done so 2 weeks ago but it turned out they were waiting to talk to me about doing RNY instead of sleeve and weren't going to submit until they knew which surgery I was getting. I made that decision so now just waiting. I started this process in March and wanted surgery asap so it feels like I've been waiting forever!

I received pre-approval to start the program through BCBS - met with the surgeon on April 1st - got launched right into all other appts, Behavioral, Psych, Exercise and Dietician all in April - Even started my 10 weeks of Behavioral Health groups in April - Completed the program and all other required appts by mayo on June 30th - met with the surgeon for final authorization on July 6th - waited till Aug 3rd to be denied...

Somehow everyone was unaware I needed 6 months of physician supervised weight loss (did I mention I have all my food logs, exercise logs and health logs since January 2014???)

Was told my Mayo nothing they can do, I will need to battle with insurance so I appealed sending in all my food, exercise and dr appts showing weigh ins along with what I had done April to July on August 4th.

Waited until Sept 11th to get a letter in the mail denied again due to needing 6 months - they see the food logs but didn't see the dietician till April.

Okay so does this mean I have to start all over now that I didn't see a Dr in August??? No one will answer me - they just keep repeating that I need 6 consecutive months but didn't see the dietician till April. Any advise on that one???

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
