4 Days Post Op...Hurting a lot

Recommended Posts

@@UCLA man it is surgery so it is going to have discomfort or some pain. I think mine was very low level on grand scheme and I took time to rest. Some people are back to work in less than a week and some need more time. Your health status now will impact this and you should talk to your surgeon.

@@slc3568,

Congratulations on your surgery! At least know that hurting a lot four days post op is common, and that’s probably about as bad as it will get.

I know it’s tough, but the best thing you can do is get in your liquids. Do everything you can to boost your intake even though it is hard and can take a lot of effort. Being dehydrated, as you may be, can make the pain much worse and also make it last longer.

Other than that, walking helps a lot of patients. Even if it’s just short walks every so often, getting moving can help.

And other than that…there’s not much you can do besides wait it out. It will get better soon, even if it doesn’t feel like it’s soon.

Congratulations, and good luck!

This all sounds so terrible.

In the grand scheme of things, it really isn't A few days of pain and suffering is a small price to pay to turn your entire life around. At 2 years post-op, I enjoy the benefits of my sleeve every single day and the pain and misery are very distant memories.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
