Questions - banded 11/30

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I am newly banded and have a few questions.

When I lay down I feel a lot of pressed at the breast bone level. I had surgury five days ago and am wondering if this is normal. It happens more at night and I am sleeping more in the mornings because of it. I thought it was gas but that has eased up some. It could simply be swellling. I will call the doctor on Monday but was just wondering if you all had trouble lying down and sleeping/

Also burping causes a liltle pain around the same area.

ALSO ... I am on Clear Liquids and seem to be tolerating this well. My partner is suggesting that I try and go to thick liquids and I feel hungry but want to not cause any damage to my lapband. She had the RNY and was eating some more condensed food by the this time. Did I say I am very hungry? She suggested some creamy Soups or yogurt but that is at week two. The end of week two I think. It is not as clear as I hoped because everything says 1-2 weeks...2-3 weeks....

Thanks for all your help.

I ate Soups. I had Tomato Soup that really filled me up. Just think of it as anythinag that would go through a straw.

broth

Jello

pudding

Soup

try some Protein Drinks - they really fill me up plus it gets you in the habit of drinking them.

I also found the as I took my time building up the amount of food I could eat the more weight I lost. I still really watch the amount of food I eat. When I fill full I stop. I do not want to stretch out my new pouch. I have the 10 cc band and still have some pretty good restriction, meaning I cannot eat what ever I want, but am really ready for a fill.

As for your pain, I would call the doctor. I was very sore the first week. Walk as much as you can.

Good luck, But remember FOLLOW your doctors orders on eating. You do not want to undo anything he or she has done.

And Welcome to Band land.

I started week 1 on clear liquids but by the end of that week I was already trying Protein Drinks (I liked the costco version of the slim fast drinks) and V8. I stuck with those for a few days and slowly added in pudding and very creamy Soups. Just go slowly, be careful and follow your docs orders as closely as possible. I remember just kind of having aches and pains all over the first week. They got progressively less as the week went on but it wouldn't surprise me if I had had a soreness on my chest at night. I can't remember. I would call your doc just to let them know and see what they say. Best wishes, Teresa

My surgery was actually done the day before yours and I feel the exact same pressure in my chest. I go for my one week post op tomorrow. I am also extremely sore on the left side. I'm assuming that is where the port is. I still walk slowly and have a very hard time bending down. I still can't tie my shoes. I read somewhere that some people go back to work a couple days after surgery so I gave myself a week, which means I am due back in tomorrow. I can't make it. I'm just so uncomfortable, between the pain in my chest, the diarrhea, and the nasty taste in my mouth, I just don't feel like I'm ready to be around people yet. I guess this is just part of the process for us. I know we will get through it.

Are you walking alot? Seriously, walking is the best thing to work out the soreness. Getting up and down as much as possible. Dressing made me feel 100% better, in addition to showering and putting on makeup etc. It always does. I hope you get to feeling better soon!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
