I'm just starting too. I met with my surgeon last week for the first time. My EGD is scheduled for Wednesday. My process is going to be a lot faster because my insurance won't cover weight loss surgery. Period. I'm just fortunate to have parents that will pay out of pocket for every thing.

I have done the seminar and first of three NUT appointments. I meet with the surgeon on Thursday for my consult. Hoping to have surgery by Mid October (happy birthday to me). My husband is not on board and thinks I'm taking the easy way out. Hahaha. This is so not easy. I have already started dietary changes and adding some exercise. Good luck to us all!

Hi

I'm just starting as well I have my first surgical appointment on Thursday pretty excited. I'm in Australia so I don't have to go through the the same pathway you guys do. I had to see a psych, dietician, exercise physiologist, sleep test and that was it. Next is meet my Dr and get a date for surgery.

I'm looking forward to sharing the road to slim with you guys.

Keep up the good work and motivation.

Hi,

I've just started out too. Insurance doesn't pay so things can move a little quicker. I saw the PA a week and a half ago, had my endoscopy consult and first nutritionist visits last week. Endoscopy is next Friday, psych consult on the 15th and sleep apnea consult on the 24th. 2nd nutritionist 8/26. I go on a cruise from 9/17 to 9/25, then roll right into pre-op with the dr and final nutritionist appt on 9/26, start the two week pre op diet and have surgery on 10/12. Whew that's a lot!! My sister had her sleeve done last year and went to her one year check in today. 75 lbs down and couldn't be happier. I never thought I'd join her, but I've given up the hope that I'll have enough motivation to lose it all on my own again. I'm attempting a high Protein 1500 calorie diet to drop some weight before surgery--not a requirement but I look at it as though I have a better chance of getting most of the weight off if I do this now. I'm worried about failing....

I haven't even met with the surgeon yet because I am getting married Jan 1st and won't have Aetna until then. So I looked at their clinical bulletin and went ahead and started the 6 month on June 29 with my pcp. Hope this works when Aetna kicks in! I won't be sleeved until FEB/MARCH.

I'm pretty much just starting also ... I'm in Phoenix, Az. I started in July with my initial consult but have to complete at least 3 months of dietician meetings so I'm hoping for a surgery date in October as well. I have Aetna so fingers crossed!

@@KaiserKid I am in the western part of the state so I am probably going to Mercy or Baystate. MGH is a great hospital!

Let me know how your approval with BCBS goes!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
