Period ... Sorry if TMI

Recommended Posts

I need some help everyone. I had my daughters two years ago and ever since then I have had the Mirena. I have not had a period in a year and a half. I am 12 days post op and I have a period. I read through my stuff from the doctor and don't see it mentioned anywhere. Anyone experience this before?

I've had a Mirena for 5 years now. I never had a period either. After surgery (5/31 GSV) I started spotting for a few days, but haven't had a full period. This happened for 2 months, & I'm waiting to see if July will bring another unwanted visitor. Lol!

I don't have the Mirena, but I've experienced similar things with my Nexplanon (arm implant). I had it put in early February and have not had a period (or spotting) from insertion date to surgery date. The night after my surgery I started this weird half-period thing. I spotted, but not enough to wear anything, it was just there when I peed or wiped. That lasted about 4-5 days and hasn't come back since.

Thanks ladies it's about 4 days now. Sounds like it's pretty normal.

Yes!! I have the birth control implant, and although I got my period two days prior to surgery ???? it was the heaviest my period has ever been!

So strange! I thought it might have something to do with the heparin shots I received during my hospital stay??

They say when it rains it pours right?! ???? lol

I was told that this drastically changes your hormones all of a sudden with so many changes and things and so everything can be changed after surgery. I would still ask your surgeon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
