Started liquid diet today, surgery date any 8/9

Recommended Posts

The liquid diet is extremely tough for me in the evenings for some reason. I only have another week and a half until surgery date August 9th with Dr. Primomo. Good luck to everyone!

@@Rae Sunshine - Now that I am past the 6th day of the liquid diet, it is easier to function. My surgery is 8/3 and the last half of the diet is not as bad as the beginning. I did not have any headaches to begin with just dreams of ricotta, avocados, and chicken broth. For real!!! What happened to the standbys, chocolate and ice cream? LOL. Anyway, it does get easier. Drink Water. I know it is not easy after drinking all that Protein Powder, but it does help.

@Shrinkingtpi no, I have thought about that, it's most likely Water weight. Would have to have a game plan that works besides the liquid diet, usually skip meals most days and eat late, so I know definite changes need to be made and perhaps the tool is necessary.

1 week down and I have lost about a pound a day. Feeling a little less tired which is great and I feel more confident in myself for not being tempted to eat when others are eating around me. I just don't have the desire. I'm super excided and I hope this week passes quickly for all the 8/9 surgery date people!

I am on Day 2 of my 2 week pre-op diet, and the headache is what bothers me most. I have been off caffeine for over a month now, so what's with the headache??

It will get better! what you are going through is from the ketosis diet and ketosis flu is making you feel terrible. Just google it. Understanding more of what is happening and why made this process a little easier to deal with for me and I hope it helps others. I felt hungry, tired, my head hurt and there was a sweet taste in my mouth but it passed after 3-4 days. The 6th day I was feeling like myself again. I actually feel even better then I was before starting the liquid diet!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
