Tip for people making plans for post op

Recommended Posts

Friends, I'm a week post-op and decided to virtually take zero time off. I basically took 2 days extra plus my 2 normal days off. Needless to say, I'm exhausted! I have recovered remarkably well. My only issue right now is still the bloat and my tummy feels like someone punched it, but other than that I think I'm doing good. But the fatigue is nuts. I obviously have zero energy from food so I'm bragging. Don't do like me and take time off to at least be able to doze off in peace. Cheers.

I fear I'll be in the same boat. I'm only out of the office for a week, and stupidly volunteered to work from home starting day 4. I know they will be patient if I take time out to nap, but I shouldn't have and didn't really need to volunteer to work.

I have my surgery next Friday and plan to return to work the following Thursday. That will only give me 5 days to heal but it's a desk job. I'm hoping it will be enough!

My surgery is this coming Monday and I took two weeks. Then will try to work from home a couple days a week the first few weeks back. I have a desk job but a 2 hour commute so that makes for a long day.

if they don't mind you having issues lifting a pencil... Haha!!! I'm trying to put up a front but the lack of calories really gets to you. I walk around a 200,000 sft building all day. I've had trouble concentrating bc I just want to sleep. Lol. From being tired. Everything else has been great!

My surgery is next thursday and I took off the following week. I hope I'm feeling well enough to at least go in for half days.

I had surgery on Tuesday and went back to work the following Monday. I was exhausted. @@SwampBillies I have a desk job. I was able to take naps during the day because I worked for my dad at his house. I didn't make it through the day until week 3.

I had surgery on Friday 7/8 and saw a couple of my home health patients that Monday 7/11. That was just driving to their homes, giving an injection, and going home, though. It was a little bit tough, mostly just getting the energy to get up and get ready because I was just so exhausted from surgery.

I did an infusion for my other job a couple of days later, and then the first day I worked a "full" day was Friday the 15th, so exactly a week post op, and I felt great. The only issue was trying to keep hydrated!! It's hard to have to drink so slowly

My worst days (other than the day of surgery) were days 4 and 5 post op, just because I was feeling so week. I had a very easy recovery though and have had no problem keeping down fluids or Protein shakes. If I'd had issues there's no possible way I would have gone back so early!

I have a desk job, and carpool with my hubby, so I'm planning on one week off and one week working from home, but I can extend the work from home a second week if there's issues. I'm hoping that will be enough time. :/

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
