Hey y'all!!! I'm new and just starting this process! I'm in Montgomery! I have a question. Do any of you have BCBS of AL? If so did you all submit pics instead of the 3 yrs of recorded weight requirement? Thanks!!!

We have BCBS of AL. My wife and I had the surgery together. I was missing one year of medical records and she was missing two. We submitted photos for the missing years and were approved in about a week.

We emailed them to the insurance liaison at the weightless office ,so we named the photo file by the year it represented. The lady at the office submitted to insurance. I don't know if she changed anything before submitting.

I don't know about the nicotine test. They drew blood during surg prep. If they ran the test, they ran it from that. The surgery itself was nothing. I was sore, but not much pain. The only time I used my pain pump was when my back (pinched nerve) hurt so bad from lying in bed and I wanted to go to sleep. My appendectomy 24 years ago was much worse. I was uncomfortable in the left shoulder from the gas, so I was up and walking a few hours after surgery. I didn't want to eat or drink afterwards which made the leak test where you fill up on a liquid miserable, but doable.

With the weight loss since surgery, my back pain has all but disappeared. We moved residence recently and I would not have been able to do that without severe back pain a year or two ago. I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat. My quality of life has greatly improved. You go thru brief phases where you feel regret or depression that you can't eat like everyone else. So expect those, it's just your mind coping with the changes. Think about the benefits your getting. I'm off blood pressure medicine and GERD medicine. It's more than worth it. Best wishes, and good luck!

Dr. Bradley Marker. My wife had her surgery the same day with him as well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
