Hey! Tell me why I should do this!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! My name is Courtney and I'm 24, I'm feeling so lost lately my social anxiety has hit an all time high I keep trying to eat right and exercise but eventually that doesn't work. I'm really think I need to just go through wit this, and honestly the only thing I'm scared of is the liquid diet and post op diet

Once I'm healed I feel like making better food decisions and exercise will come so naturally once see some results

I don't know if this is petty or not.. But getting through the liquid diet is the only thing scaring me... I've looked up pre op and post op diets and it's literally every single food I don't eat...I know it's short term. It's just holding me back and I feel like that's dumb.

Any input on the anxiety of the liquid diet ?

well. I dunno if you will need a liquid diet before or not. I didn't. the only fasting I did was the night before surgery and the morning of surgery. the liquid diet post op was not the easiest thing for me, but honestly you are dealing with healing from surgery and it's not like you're really craving food anyway then.

and my goodness. once you get healed up you feel so much better that it's all worth it. your food tastes and likes will probably change though, and that's a good thing.

let us know what you decide!

Only YOU can make the final decision, Friend.

WLS is NOT for the weak of mind nor body.

You have to be strong in determination and motivation.

You have to be strong enough to walk the WLS journey ALONE.----if need be.

You have to be having WLS FOR you----FROM you----LOVE YOU.

The WLS journey can be joyous. However there will also be dark days when it seems like everything is going wrong. There will be bumps in the road that you will have to maneuver through.

There will always be members on BP who will be willing to give you advice---nothing medical---but advice based on their own personal experiences. BP is here to support you----not hold you up. You will have to have the inner strength to pull yourself up when you fall. Once you've done that, we will help hold you steady and guide you forward.

Good luck with YOUR decision.

Research, and ask questions. Learn everything you can and then be wiling to learn some more. Most of us are still willing to learn new ideas , thoughts and procedures.

Post often and let us know how you're doing and if there is anything we can do to support you as you start what can be the most exciting journey of your life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
