My nut does not allow Protein Bars for months. You should ask your team. I am about same time as you, I am a big proponent of unflavored Protein Powder in broth or Water. I had to take some day off of shakes after surgery.

I agree with @@chycky about the Protein bars. Ask your team and stick to your plan. Early on they are going to be dense to the point of being painful. Unflavored Protein powder added to broth and other things is a better option.

Can you have white fish on soft foods? I would suggest adding fish if possible.

That sounds like phase 3 in my program, which I'm starting tomorrow, then phase 4 a month later. If anything, bars would be in phase 4. I don't know how my stomach might handle them, so I'll stick with simpler Protein sources for a while.

I had to wait to be cleared for 'all' foods until I could try Protein bars. But I understand your anti Protein Shake thing. They all made me sick to the stomach.... Even Isopure (it made me sick the least). I added unflavored protein powder like Unjury to my Greek yogurt. It helped get my protein in without drinking so many shakes. Good luck to you. You will be past this stage before you know it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
