Not sure if it is really sweet, it is different to different people, but you are probably in ketosis. Once you get used to it, isn't as annoying.

Is this the same doctor who did your first surgery? Did you have these issues with your first surgery?

Yeah. He did my lapband in 2012. I lost 50lbs in 1 month and a 1/2 and that caused a slip so he had to reposition it. I got sick in 2014 but nothing band related. My husband and mother always blamed my "messing with my stomach" on my cancer but i honestly thank god that do to me having the band they were able to see my grape sized thymoma. The only thing I didn't like about having the band was the feeling of being "stuck" and the stress it caused my husband, kids and myself when we'd go out to eat and I'd get "stuck" and experienced shortness of breath. I actually felt my food go down in like slow motion.

@@SiSSi829 how is that liquid Protein?

VSG 6/17/2016

it's just this thick consistency of funky smelling (supposed to be orange flavored) goop. I drink it because I have to, because it really did help with all the weakness, drowsiness and stuff that I was feeling but it didn't help with the hunger that in feeling. Which I've read that might be dehydration or reflux and some other stuff.

But the taste is yucky

I'm still in liquids and purée stage and I'm terrified to move to food bc I'm scared I'll overeat and go back to my old habits. I don't trust myself.

Yeah that's the bad part. I don't either. It's sad but true. But hey it's just the beginning, it can't be all horrible.

I've read on another page of folks that eat 6-7 jellos and 10popsicles and over here like ok. Uummmm, I thought that we were supposed to learn how to eat smaller portions and how to control ourselves but I guess that's the way it's supposed to be.

Eat what as much as u want as long as it's what directed?! I dunno. I'm just confused. BUT don't take any advice from me plz. I haven't made the choices with my new stomach, I'm not proud but it's done and I've moved on and I'm trying to do what I'm supposed to do. I guess I'll just keep reading or YouTube-Ing and see if I learn something.

So, basically what you're feeling isn't actual physical hunger, but appetite issues? Like mental cravings? If so, that does sound like an emotional problem, which is why most people are overweight; they resort to eating when they get depressed. I'm so sorry this is happening. With me, I hate eating when I'm sad. It almost feels like a chore. I don't even snack, which is why some people wonder how I got this big. (I blame my PCOS)

Please reach out to your doctor and keep us updated.

Are you guys taking a PPI or other reflux med? It will absolutely help with that hunger feeling and is pretty standard for patients to take the first 3 months or so after surgery. If you aren't taking one, ask you dr about it or at least taking a Zantac. Promise it makes a difference!

Also, I can say that even at 1 year post-op, sometimes I feel "hunger" when I am really thirsty. Or well I can say that if I drink something, it sometimes helps that feeling.

Good luck! The liquid phase will be behind you soon and you will barely remember it!

Yes I am prone to depression, and anxiety as well I am so glad I'm not alone I swear I cook for the family and I'm almost angry that they can eat and I can't lol I know it's not their fault and I don't show them how I feel but I do think it!

Was feeling the same way toasting a bagel with CC this a.m. for my daughter lol. Like come on you are 15 you can do this yourself. But she is a teen and my only one. So meal prep goes on. I was taking an antidepressant prior to being sleeved 6/8 and do believe it has helped. As so many of us we coped by using food. At 4th of July I wanted to slap the next person who crunched down on a tortilla chip. Have they always been this loud? Or am I being taunted? Ahhh so yeah we just have to keep our eyes on the prize our goal weight. Good luck do not be afraid to speak to your doctor about depression. Walking briskly helps, staying connected to other sleevers, support groups. And medication if needed. If you are a person of faith that can be of help. Okay then, take care and good luck Michele

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
