Waiting on my first consultation

Recommended Posts

My appointment is July 11th and its all I can think about. Can't wait to get the ball rolling to becoming healthier overall. I already go to the gym 4-5 times a week and eat well, just seems like none of this has worked or only has temporarily all my life.

Any new timers in the same boat as I am? I feel so emotionally invested in this already, I hope the process goes smoothly!

I started my process in Feb of 2016. My insurance requires 6 months with a nutritionist. In July will be my 6th month, hoping to have surgery in August. Let me tell you, it is all I think about and talk about. I am soo excited!

I am in the same boat with you. I walk a 3 mile loop 5-6 days a week and still haven't been able to loose weight. I just got my referral from my pcp for the vgs and I have my information class schedule on July 12. I have also have documentation of failing to loose weight under a physician care. I am hoping to get things checked off quickly. My bmi is at 40.7.

I am excited for you.

Wow, it seems like you are so much more prepared than I am haha. My healthcare center does a seminar on the sleeve on July 19th so I'm signed up to go. It's weird for me, I have lost weight (sometimes up to 30-40 pounds) but have trouble keeping it off. It's happened a few times so my doctor thinks it is best if I do the surgery to aid in the loss and work more on maintaining once I'm down. Let's stay in touch!

I am like you, I can loose but then I regain for me it's a cycle. I don't think I am more prepared, I started trying to lose weight with my doctors supervision back in November never planning on doing WLS but in march the doctor brought it up to me but I wasn't emotionally ready but I decided this last month I was ready and I like the idea of the VGS. I am excited about this choice and the life long lifestyle that it will offer.

I would love to hear how your july 11 appointment goes

I so feel you! I just had my first appt on June 24th and my next is July 15th to go all the tests results and meet with NUT. It's ALL I think about too!! I also workout a lot and eat pretty healthy most of the time and feel like my body does not match my lifestyle and I'm so tired of the struggle! Congrats on making the decision to get help and good luck on your first appt! Keep us posted!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
