How long did it take from your first consultation until surgery day?

...and also because, like OutsideMatchInside, I didn't need to change my lifestyle. I was already very fit, ate high Protein, no junk, had logged my food and diets for years. Didn't drink/smoke. So I had a ton of appointments (blood tests, EKG, dietician visits, psychologist etc) to squeeze in but I didn't have to, say, demonstrate weeks of months of diets, or high-protein meals. I just handed off my existing logs.

My first consultation with my surgeon was August 3, 2015. My insurance required at least 90 days nutritional counseling. My sleeve was done December 17, 2015. My surgeon was very busy towards the end of the year so it was over 4 months from first visit to surgery date... It was worth the wait! I'm just over 6 months and I've lost 65 since surgery plus I lost 25 pre-op from August to December... 90 total!! Soooo loving my sleeve!!

My first consultation was on April 1st and I had my surgery June 28th. So 11 weeks I had a lot of preoperative testing to --psyc eval; endoscopy/colonoscopy; and cardiology stress rest.

Mine was about six weeks, but could have been sooner if that worked for my schedule. The ONLY benefit of self pay is the quick path to surgery, lol

About 8 weeks. Consultation in first week of March and surgery was May 10. I wanted to have surgery before I went back to work from helping my mom with cancer treatment. All psych exams, nutritionists appts, & heart tests were scheduled quickly and I called my insurance company first to see all requirements. So mine was a total of about 8 weeks. I was done with all pre-op stuff in about 4 weeks but the surgeon didn't have an earlier surgery date for me.

Thanks for your advice. I would like to see if mine can be scheduled before I go back to school. What insurance do you have?

Omg that was very fast. Did you self pay?

Yes it was self pay. Don't know any insurance that covers this over here and if I went with our free health care there was a 3 years wait just to get an appointment with the doctor.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
