I've never had any adverse reactions to any of the Protein Drinks. I've probably tried at least a dozen (sometimes have to grab one from a gas station because warm Protein drinks = ewwwww). I've never gotten nauseous either. I started using them a year ago for Breakfast on recommendation of my nutritionist. I don't like eggs and she wanted me getting protein in the morning so it seemed like a good alternative.

I never experienced vomiting from consuming Protein shakes. From my discussion with many who took Protein Shakes before and after surgery, vomiting is not a common problem.

For me after surgery, my taste buds change as it does for many. Things that I could tolerate before tasted awful after surgery. So it is important to experiment until you find a shake you can tolerate.

I've been drinking shakes every day for over a year. Sometimes two a day. I have never gotten sick from them, and I've tried several kinds. Sometimes I encounter one I don't really like, or it doesn't sit well, but it's never made me physically sick.

I am four days out and I have been drinking clear Protein drinks. I tried a Premier Protein yesterday and it made my stomach hurt. I diluted it by half and tolerated it much better but still am sticking to clear Protein for a couple more days. I say listen to your body, if it hurts, don't drink the shakes and stick to clear protein. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
