Hello, everyone! I'm new to the forum and I'm happy to have found a place to get advice, tips, and more support. I'm scheduled for surgery on August 23 and have a day full of pre-op on August 15th. I can't wait to read about everyone's journey and share my own. Congrats to everyone for making this far and I'm wishing you all the very best.

Hey, Dawnie Doo! August 8th is right around the corner! I'm excited for you and will be checking for your updates. The liquid diet sounds a little tough to me even though I drink most of my calories majority of the time anyway, but I guess milkshakes are a total different ballgame. LOL Have you found a good brand of Protein mix you like? I was online reading and the Syntrax Nectar sounds good since they offer more than chocolate and vanilla. Have you tried them or know anyone who has? I'm going to Vitamin Shoppe since I saw they carry it and hopefully they have sample sizes. I just know after drinking so many I will need some variety.

I find that Isopure from Vitamin Shoppe is good. I'm using Bariatric Advantage tho. Actually I have both. My doc recommended a different class of shakes for pre-op...I'm gonna use Boost Shakes.

I have to have all Clear Liquids, nothing after 12a, not even meds the morning of. I have that special soap to shower with for the night before and morning of.

Preop for me was three tests

1. Chest x-rays

2. Blood draw

3. Urine specimen

If you haven't had an EDG or stress test then they may also be required.

I start my pre-op diet Wednesday July 27th. I've been doing Atkins shakes or high Protein Slim Fast with one small solid meal for a couple weeks now to help ease in and also because I have a dairy allergy. So I wanted to make sure my body would tolerate that amount of dairy. So far so good!

Thanks! My surgeon said it will be an all day event for me so I guess I will have the EGD, EKG, and all of the other tests done that day. I'm guessing they will call a few days before and give me the full rundown of what will take place but it's good to know before hand what to expect.

Mines not too strict. Basically stay under 30g of carbs a day. No fats or fried foods and at least 90g of lean Protein. The only day I'm on clear liquids is the day before surgery. It's not terrible, I'm struggling mentally thinking about all the bad stuff I can't and won't be able to have. It's for the best, hang in there!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
