Anyone ask their surgeon for this?

Recommended Posts

For photos or video of your procedure. I kind of want both or at least 1. I guess the curious side of me wants to know what my insides look like.

So anyones surgeon here give them video or photos?

I have the video of my knee replacement, so why not?

Go for it. The most he/she can say is, "no".

Let us know, because we're nosy... :)

Oh yikes! Can't imagine anything I'd want to see less, LOL. But if you want it why not ask?

My surgeon gave me several pictures including my brand new tiny stomach. Sorta cool actually, so long as you're OK seeing internal organs, blood vessels and fat deposits. Wasn't gory at all.

Will do. I go in Monday for my final pre-op appointment to get all the surgery info for 7-6.

That's not something I want to see. I was awake during my bone graft / leg fracture repair and the sound was enough to freak me out!

Totally Okay! I've watched several full length VSG procedures on youtube. Guts and blood don't disturb me.

I will when I go to the surgeon on Monday.

Thanks all!!

Nope. Not nosy here at all. ;)

I asked the questions when I had brain surgery and my doctor said no. His insurance doesn't allow it as it opens up the door to too many lawsuits.

For some reason, I would have loved to see my brain. My stomach, organs and fatty tissue? NO THANKS.

@TheOdysseyOfAStoutman:

Watching the video of my knee replacement was a great tool for the in-laws "having to go home early". (When I had in-laws)

I think I'll ask for a video of my skin surgery. Now, THAT should really be grotesque! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
