What's your favourite...

Recommended Posts

Ok b*tches...

As the newly, self-appointed Minister for Getting Sh*t Going, I've decided to run a weekly topic entitled "What's your favourite..."

Each week, I'll post a new subject. All you have to do is reply with your favourite of that particular thing...

It could be something 'normal' like song/movie/book...

It could be something a little more controversial like...

Well, let's just see what I/we can get away with without causing a mass banning...

Anyway, feel free to comment...

At the same time, feel free to pass over the thread if you're just gonna be a d*ck and screw things up...

You're not obligated to post/reply/like/read any of this...

So, for this week, we'll start with an easy one...

What's your favourite....

SONG LYRIC

A line...
A verse..

A chorus...

A whole song...

It matters not...

Share it with the recovering-fatty world...

Not your favourite song!!

But your favourite line(s) from a song...

Have at it b*tches!!!

***EDIT - When quoting your lyrics, please put the song title and artist as well. I'm always looking for new music to listen to and will be Spotifying the sh*t outta any songs I'm not familiar with...

Thanx...

Garth Brooks:

If Tomorrow Never comes

"If tomorrow never comes, will she know how much I loved her?

Did I try in every way

to show her every day

that she's my only one.

And if my time on Earth is through

and she must face this world without me

Is the love I gave her in the past

Gonna be enough to last--If Tomorrow Never Comes"

Oh I like this idea...

"I'm gonna find out what that house is made of

Been too many nights since it's felt us make love

I wanna rock some sheet rock

Knock some pictures off the wall

Love you baby like a wrecking ball"

I'll play. It's going to sound ridiculously sentimental, but I love "Say" from John Mayer. Yes it's repetitive, etc... But I like it.

"Even if your hands are shakin'

And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closin'
Do it with a heart wide open

Say what you need to say..."

And in case you're wondering -

YES. I will be making judgement on you thru your lyrical choices...

But you knew that...

He was a hard-headed man he was brutally handsome
And she was terminally pretty
She held him up and he held her for ransom
In the heart of the cold, cold city
He had a nasty reputation as a cruel dude
They said he was ruthless said he was crude
They had one thing in common: they were good in bed
She'd say, "Faster, faster. "The lights are turning red."

Life in the fast lane Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane

Eager for action and hot for the game
The coming attraction, the drop of a name
They knew all the right people; They took all the right pills
They threw outrageous parties; They paid heavenly bills
There were lines on the mirror, lines on her face
She pretended not to notice she was caught up in the race
Out every evenin' until it was light
He was too tired to make it; she was too tired to fight about it.

Life in the fast lane surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane
Life in the fast lane everything all the time
Life in the fast lane

Blowin' and burnin' blinded by thirst
They didn't see the stop sign; Took a turn for the worst
She said, "Listen, baby. You can hear the engine ring.
"We've been up and down this highway; haven't seen a god-damn thing."
He said, "Call the doctor. I think I'm gonna crash."
"The doctor say he's coming but you gotta pay in cash."
They were rushing down that freeway; Messed around and got lost
They didn't care they were just dyin' to get off.

And it was life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane
Life in the fast lane everything all the time
Life in the fast lane

Oh too many!!! But here's one I hadn't listened to in a while that I listened to this week:

"Standing calmly at the crossroads, no desire to run. There's no hurry anymore when all is said and done. "

Mamma Mia soundtrack the only song written specifically for the show not an Abba song, When All Is Said and Done

From my high school days:

"At least there's pretty lights, though there's little variation. It nullifies the night from overkill"

Overkill by Colin Hay/men at work

And from my latest obsession Hamilton (Lin Manuel Miranda) there are too many to mention but here's one....

"I am the one thing in life I can control. I am inimitable I am an original"

so many - but lately a top fav is -

Wait a second,
Why should you care, what they think of you
When you're all alone, by yourself
Do you like you?

"Well, open up your mind and see like me,

Open up your plans and damn you're free.
Look into your heart and you'll find love, love, love, love.
Listen to the music of the moment, people dance and sing, we're just one big family
And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loved, loved."

My favorite lyrics can be found in garages, on the street, on the drag strip, a circle track... you get the idea. If it's 8 cylinders, loud and has lots of horsepower it is playing my favorite song.

I literally just took this photo a couple of minutes ago as I was walking out of my office. This is the shirt that I was wearing under my work shirt.

Although I probably shouldn't admit this I do love the song of two lovely cylinders as well. This is not my bike, mine is currently broken :-( I did however "borrow" this bike yesterday from my coworker after he went home. I took it up a nice twisty road and had a lot of fun while getting it over a hundred plus miles an hour multiple times. I'm not always the brightest one. Damn horsepower! It is addictive...

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
