So far so good. My worst experience was the cotton mouth and dry lips immediately after surgery. I was only allowed moistened swabs as needed until I passed the swallow test the following day, meaning 26 hours without drinking liquid. I have very little pain and so far the diet is going surprisingly well. I feel so full after every liquid meal. My only issue has been struggling to get that 64 ounces of Water down and 5 days without a BM until today (okay, probably TMI there).

I lost 20 pounds during the liver shrinking diet and am down 30 since I first began the process in early April. I will have my first post-surgery weigh-in on Wednesday. No food cravings or hunger at this point, and so far all the foods taste the same except the vanilla Protein powder which suddenly tastes twice as sweet.

I'm a week out today and agree - that first 28hrs for me without swallowing anything - just moist swabs in my mouth were rough. my mouth kept getting so dry. I still have some pain near the largest incision - not really the incision itself hurting but deeper in that area - just nerves and stuff regrowing I guess. Otherwise the pain has been surprisingly minimal and i'm thankful

I was really struggling with getting 64 oz of Fluid in (even counting my Protein drinks) until yesterday. Each day I made progress though and today it is surprisingly easy to get the Fluid in so it definitely gets better - hang in there!

Now the biggest issue is really just lack of energy but even that gets a little better each day.

I'm intentionally not weighing myself until my two week post op follow up apt next Thursday. Hopefully, I'll be pleasantly surprised

I had mine on the 21st and feel the same way about the dryness the day of surgery! My throat was pretty sore, too, but all of that basically went away when I could start drinking.

I've found that I have a lot more trouble with plain Water than I do with the sugar free Powerade or (homemade!!) chicken broth. The best of all is sugar-free ice pops. I could probably annihilate way too many of them for my own good. I drank over 100 oz. of Water daily pre-surgery so it's hard not being able to drink as much.

I agree that the Protein shakes taste much sweeter. Are you drinking 3 a day? I've only been doing 1 a day (yesterday and today) since I got home. I'll probably try to have more tomorrow.

Very encouraging! My energy came back today but not sure it will last for the liquid diet duration. Sounds like you are doing great, and hopefully you'll have a great first post-op weigh-in.

Yes, 3 a day for me. I've added a bit of water to cut down on the vanilla sweetness. chocolate seems about the same. I must have the wrong brand of SF popsicles because mine are essentially tasteless. But I am loving strained Cream of chicken Soup, something I thought I would never say. Keep up the great work. I know it will be worth it for all of us.

Oh my gosh...swabs only was the WORST.

I am struggling to get up to my goal in Water and Protein. Its been tough. It just feels funny. It will be 2 weeks for me on Monday.

i am 3 days out and cotton mouth is *just* beginning to go away.

i was told to drink at least 30oz of Clear Liquids and at least 30oz of full liquids. it's making my recovery a lot easier when i focus on that!

so far fruit punch flavoured Water and creamy Tomato Soup are my favourites.

It's good to have a taste to look forward to. Gonna have to try that creamy Tomato Soup. It sound good. I'm afraid I may tire of Cream of chicken.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
