So to top this week off of still being in the hospital since Sunday I am still so nauseous and unable to drink much so my doctors have put in a picc line. I will have get TPN infusions every night starting tonight and continuing when I get home. This will give me my Protein, fluids, and nutrients I'm not getting from eating and drinking. I may need to do that for 6-8 weeks ???? Has anyone else had to do this after surgery? What was your experience?

So sorry to hear of your complication.

Thank you, it's definitely been frustrating. I just want to feel better and they say it could be a week or months before I feel better. They said it's just a waiting game which I don't want to hear!

Is this a rare occurrence??? Reading this FREAKS me out!

I'm not sure. I had my sleeve May 27th and had bad pain for 3 weeks. Then came the extreme nausea and I was admitted to the hospital where they did a swallow test where they found I had a kink in the end of my pouch that was restricting things from going through easily. They were able to dilate it but don't really know when I'll feel better. Since I'm still not able to eat or drink much they are sending me home with a picc line so I won't be dehydrated and malnourished

How are you feeling???

I still feel pretty bad. I still can't really eat or drink anything. I'm not overwhelmingly nauseous 24/7 anymore but I still have a lot of nausea. I called my doctor on Friday and they said if I'm still having so much trouble over the weekend I can a) go to ER again B) call on call surgeon c) call them back Tuesday morning and they can maybe get me in for another procedure. I'm trying to hold off until Tuesday

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
